In Brief:Samsung again halts Galaxy Note 7 sales 

Samsung halted Galaxy Note 7 sales, and told customers to switch off their handset, following reports that new devices issued under its global exchange programme have also been catching fire.The Korean electronics giant is in the midst of a global recall of its flagship smartphone, prompted by multiple reports of the battery smouldering, or catching fire. It has since emerged that some newly-replaced Galaxy Note 7s are also suffering from the same problem.In a statement Samsung said it is working with regulators to investigate these new cases.

***MTN and Etisalat have become the latest Nigerian mobile operators to introduce commercial LTE networks, following the launch of Globacom’s 4G service in nine cities last week. Market leader MTN Nigeria’s network is currently available in the cities of Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, but coverage will be expanded to other parts of the country in the near future. It utilises the 2600MHz frequencies acquired by MTN from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) at auction earlier this year. A wide selection of 4G mobile data tariffs are offered by the South African-owned cellco, ranging from NGN100 (USD0.3) for a daily allowance of 30MB to NGN50,000 for 85GB (valid for 90 days).

***Deutsche Telekom has made a bid to tackle fragmentation in the IoT market with the launch of a multi-IoT platform.As the name suggests, it brings together IoT platforms from different, well-known providers to enable device-independent use of IoT solutions.Deutsche Telekom said its multi-IoT platform aims to play the role of interpreter and distributor, collecting data from connected devices and routing it through gateways to the customer's preferred platform for processing.
